The wildlife

On the water
The city has some great places to visit, and plenty of opportunity to learn about the history of San Diego. The USS Midway Museum is an impressive naval aircraft carrier turned museum, where you can visit and see loads of interesting aircraft up close. While you're on the water you might as well check out Mission Beach. Here you'll find Belmont Park, a historical Amusement Park that has worked hard to maintain the charm of its 1925 opening years. The park still operates today and you'll find plenty of rides and classical stalls to enjoy.
In the evenings
Walk the impressive city bay in the evenings and choose from loads of great restaurants. Where better than the Fish Market Restaurant with a menu that twists and turns according to the daily catch. Here you can sample plenty of typical sea food dishes with their expert touch neatly added. The restaurant smokes its own fish on premises, and does a wicked ginger and lime sauce with their enormous prawns.
Once you're ready for a drink, head further into the city to Hamilton's Tavern. This kind of bar is typical of the city, with a really laid-back and friendly atmosphere. The tavern itself isn't too far from the zoo, and as the name suggests is somewhat of an American brew specialist, although the Californian wine is certainly not to be sniffed at.
