Travel responsibly: boost local economies and businesses

Sustainable travel

Helpful tips for traveling ethically

According to the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), sustainable tourism is "Tourism that fully takes into account the current and future economic, social and environmental repercussions to meet the needs of visitors, industry, the environment and host communities." Sustainable tourism therefore means, first and foremost, travelling consciously and responsibly. This implies minimising a trip's carbon footprint, managing consumption of resources in a responsible manner and being open to the people, natural environment and daily life of the holiday destination.

Protecting the oceans

The oceans are the heart of our planet and play a fundamental role in our daily lives and in the survival of the Earth. However, their well-being, and therefore ours, is in jeopardy.

Social impact

As travellers become increasingly committed to the environment, we have a duty to play an active role on the road to sustainable travel. How? By supporting the economic development of local communities, and providing new opportunities which benefit the destination's socio-economic fabric.
