The wild-like garden of Rodini Park is one of the most tranquil spots on the island. In fact, it was first landscaped thousands of years ago – before the Romans came along – so you can truly enjoy this natural spot with its long history. As you and your partner wander along the trailing walkways, take in the crooked trees that curve over the ponds, admire the lush vegetation and keep an eye out for roaming peacocks.
Best for: Nature lovers.
While you’re there: Stop off at the cafe afterwards.
The Grande Albergo delle Rose was built during Italian occupation (hence its name) in the 1920s, but features a sublime mix of Byzantine, Ottoman and Venetian architectural styles. The site once catered for prominent guests, and visitors today can enjoy just a luxurious stay with suites named after famous figures from ancient Greek mythology – think Athena, Odysseus, Apollo and the like. You and your partner can really cosy up here, as there’s plenty of restaurants, bars and cafes to choose from. If you’re browsing holidays to Rhodes, you’ll be spoiled for choice with where to stay – check out our tempting range of accommodation offers to perfect your trip.
Best for: Stylish couples.
While you’re there: Dress up and spend an evening at their very own casino.
What better way to savour the history of Rhodes than with a visit to the Acropolis of Rhodes? The ancient Greek remnants are set in an archaeological park where you have plenty of time and space to take in the wide-stretching stadium, marble theatre and column ruins from the Temple of Apollo. Its hilltop position overlooks the sea, although there’s enough impressive ruins to keep your transfixed.
Best for: History buffs.
While you’re there: Make it a sunset visit for an ultra-romantic hue.
One of the most romantic things to do in Rhodes is to pay a visit to Kritinia Castle, located on the western side of the island close to the small village of Kritinia. Built in the 15th century, you can admire the Byzantine and Medieval styles that are in place, and venture inside to check out the church and other buildings. One of the lesser-known sights in Rhodes, you and your partner can snuggle into each other’s arms as you admire the views overlooking the Aegean Sea, while feeling like you have the whole place to yourselves.
Best for: Couples looking for privacy.
While you’re there: You can follow a hiking route there or on the way back – or both, if you’re fit enough!
Thinking of tying the knot in Rhodes? You couldn’t ask for a more romantic destination, with its Mediterranean chilled-out pace, crystal-clear waters and sublime nature spots. The island is home to many popular spots to get married, but Lindos has it all: culture, nature and elegance. You can get married in the town hall, on Vlycha Beach or at Saint Paul’s Chapel, depending on your preference; and you can get to know the hillside village better with its horseshoe-shaped bay, mosaiced streets and 18th-century whitewashed villas.
Best for: Seriously committed couples.
While you’re there: Celebrate at St Paul’s Bay.
Soak up the seascape by following a coastal pathway from Paralia Elli Beach in Rhodes Town to Kritika. Your tracks will cover sand, steep slopes and sturdy trails, and takes just over half an hour to complete, depending on your pace. You can pause along the way to take a rest on a bench, or take a slight detour down the steps towards the beach for a quick dip! Once you reach Kritika, you can recline on the beach, which sits at the foothills of Monte Smith.
Best for: Gentle walkers.
While you’re there: Rhodes Town’s Aquarium is another couple-friendly activity.
