Salcombe Hotels

Salcombe Castle

Although much of this building was destroyed during the English Civil War in the mid-17th century, Salcombe Castle is still an enchanting sight and is surrounded by breathtaking coastal scenery. The defence, which was probably built in the Tudor era, sits on a large rock and can be accessed via the beach at low tide.

Overbeck's

These photogenic subtropical gardens were designed by the distinguished scientist, brewer and inventor Otto Overbeck, who pioneered the development of electrotherapy during his career. The Overbeck's gardens are famed for their remarkable landscape views, and feature numerous palm trees, olive trees and other exotic plants that will almost make you feel like you've been catapulted into the Mediterranean.

The Start Point Lighthouse

Very nearby, the Start Point Lighthouse has existed for almost two centuries and was designed by the eminent Scottish engineer James Walker. The lighthouse, which is now a Grade II listed structure, became automated in the 1990s and is now a popular local tourist attraction.
