By the sea
Paignton is blessed with some beautiful sandy beaches which are perfect in the summer for play and relaxation, and, at any time of year, for walks. Paignton Sands, Preston Sands, Goodrington Beach and Broadsands, in particular, have won awards for their quality and cleanliness.
Whether you just fancy a paddle in the water or kayak journey along the South Devon coast, Paignton's shoreline provides wonderful opportunities for water skiing, skim boarding, and paddle boarding. And for rock pooling and snorkelling, Paignton's craggy coves and pebbled beaches are ideal.
Another great way to take to the ways is by enjoying a cruise to Torquay, Brixham and Dartmouth. And if you want to wrestle with wreckfish or mackerel you can charter a boat for a day of angling.
The Geoplay Park is located on Paignton's seafront, and with themes based on the geology of the English Riviera, it's a great place for kids to burn off steam.
Country Air
For river valleys, heather-covered moorland and impressive granite tors, Dartmoor National Park is the place be. Less than 13 miles away, here you'll find eye-popping landscapes, secluded villages, hamlets and tranquillity in abundance. An area of outstanding natural beauty, Dartmoor National Park is perfect for getting away from it all and enjoying long walks.
Paignton Zoo is home to over 2,000 wild creatures, all within a safe and interactive environment. An A to Z of animal life is here, from Anacondas to Zebras. The zoo is part of the Whitley Wildlife Conservation Trust and is dedicated to the protection of local and international environments and the animals and plants that inhabit them.

TJ's by the harbour is extremely popular for its tapas menu décor, ambience and service. The restaurant's raised terrace affords excellent views of the harbour and beyond. East in the West has garnered great acclaim for its tasty Indian cooking and slick service. And for a classic English dining experience, Oaktree Restaurant has found favour with locals and visitors alike.
