History

Lossiemouth was originally the port belonging to Elgin, and was an important fishing town. While there has been over 1,000 years of settlement in the area, present day Lossiemouth was only developed in the past 250 years. Modern Lossiemouth began life as five separate communities, which over time grew into one. These were Kinneddar, Stotfield, Seatown, Lossiemouth and Branderburgh, with the most ancient of these being Kinneddar and Stotfield.

RAF Lossiemouth

RAF Lossiemouth is one of the biggest main operating bases of the RAF, the only RAF base in Scotland and Britain's main base for Tornado GR4 planes. The base opened in 1939 and has become an integral part of the local community.
