Its award-winning beaches and proximity to natural beauty spots, including Beachy Head and the South Downs, combined with traditional seaside charm, ensures that Eastbourne hotels remain popular throughout the year.
Attractions
Eastbourne has a number of beaches, offering uninterrupted views out towards the Continent. Grand Parade Beach is a large stretch of coast with shower and refreshment facilities, clean bathing water and lifeguard patrols. The Marine Parade Beaches extend from the Pier to the Pavilion and are a popular destination for water sports. The Royal Parade Beaches are a mix of sand and shingle, while Holywell Retreat, set at the foot of the South Downs, is a quaint enclave with beach huts, occasional rock pooling and a busy café.
The main Seafront has a number of attractions – from mini golf to water sports and children's theme parks. Framed by the famous Victorian Pier, you can take a stroll along the wooden boardwalk while admiring panoramic sea views.
Eastbourne also boasts a number of gardens, including the attractive Italian Gardens carved out of the cliff face and the extensive semi-woodland area of Hampden Park. The famous Carpet Gardens, with striking floral displays and fountains, are a key feature on Eastbourne's Promenade.
Further out is the Seven Sisters Country Park, with nearly 700 acres of land bordered by the Seven Sisters chalk cliffs. With a Visitors Centre and fascinating shipwrecks to learn about, as well as paths fit for cyclers, there's plenty to explore.
