TOP 10: The most beautiful Lanzarote beaches

Lanzarote has a variety of beautiful beaches to offer. Whether for swimming and relaxing, for long walks, water sports or as a beautiful photo opportunity - here everyone will find the ideal place during the beach holiday. Lively beach sections, quiet coves and black sand beaches will delight you during your beach holiday. We will show you the most beautiful beaches of the volcanic island in the Atlantic Ocean for unforgettable holidays.

    Playa de Papagayo

The famous fine sandy Playa de Papagayo is located in the south of the island against the backdrop of the Ajaches Mountains. The best way to reach the beach is on foot, with an off-road vehicle via the country road or from the port of Playa Blancas by water taxi. It is one of the best beaches for sunbathing in the bright sand, not only to see the turquoise waters, but also to view the neighbouring islands Fuerteventura and Lobos. There is a beach bar on-site for snacks and cool drinks.

Our tip: Take a short break on the way to the beach at the Punta del Aguila viewpoint to enjoy the unique view of the Playa de Papagayo.

    Playa Salinas de Janubio

During your holiday in Lanzarote, a trip to the Salinas de Janubio salt fields between El Golfo and Playa Blanca should also be on the agenda. There you will find a special black sandy beach, which due to the strong winds and currents is less suitable for swimming but especially good for a soothing walk on the small lava pearls. Walking bare foot on the fine-grained lava sand acts like a foot massage. Playa Salinas de Janubio is one of the most beautiful places on the island to admire the sunset over the sea with a romantic atmosphere.

Our tip: Look for gems under the lava pearls such as the precious green olivine on your beach walks.

    Playa de las Cucharas

One of the top family beaches is located in the resort of Costa Teguise, just a few kilometres from the capital Arrecife. Here you will find everything your heart desires: beach areas surrounded by palm trees with sunbeds and umbrellas, a beach promenade for strolling and wind conditions favourable for surfing. Rent a pedalo to enjoy the hustle and bustle of the idyllic bay whilst relaxed on the water. Within your immediate vicinity there are restaurants and bars providing some refreshments after the bathing fun.

Our tip: Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of the sea while snorkelling in crystal-clear water.

    Playa de Famara

Among the most impressive natural wonders of Lanzarote is the Playa de Famara below the striking cliffs of Famara. The good wind conditions make the beach a paradise for kite and windsurfers. Numerous surf schools offer courses for both beginners and those who are more advanced. The natural beach is also popular with paragliders and hang gliders. You can easily travel from Arrecife or Teguise by bus or drive to Caleta de Famara, where there is plenty of parking.

Our tip: Be sure to visit the hidden vantage point Risco de Famara to enjoy the view over the Atlantic coast. If you're lucky, you'll see noiseless paragliders as they float down the steep cliffs to the beach.

    Playa Dorada

Playa Dorada is located at the centre of the former fishing village of Playa Blanca and is ideal for families. Children can make excellent sand castles in the bright sand and splash in the shallow water. Around the beach, many restaurants, cafés and a supermarket provide for your physical well-being. If you want to avoid the strong midday sun, stroll through the shops and perfumeries.

Our tip: From the small harbour next to the village beach you can take a trip in a glass bottom boat and explore the underwater world in an exclusive way.

    Playa Flamingo

An absolute highlight for a family holiday is the visit to Playa Flamingo in the west of the seaside resort of Playa Blanca. Palm trees, very fine sand and shallow water without waves in the artificial bay promise a relaxing beach day for young and old. Typical delicacies and drinks are conveniently located on the waterfront right behind the beach. If you are arriving by car, parking is available in Playa Blanca. From other resorts you can reach the beach in just a short time by public bus.

Our tip: Watch parrotfish or an octopus while diving and snorkelling.

    Playa de Caletón Blanco

On this tranquil natural beach on the coast of the fishing village of Órzola, black lava rocks contrast with the white sand dunes and create a charming landscape. At low tide there are wonderful little natural pools with fresh sea water, where you can swim safely with the whole family. In the small pools you are sheltered by the rock formations and can relax in the clear water. On top of that, you can drive to the beach by car.

Our tip: The beach is also affectionately called "baby beach" and, with its shallow lagoons, is an ideal place to splash around with small children.

    Charco del Palo

One of the most popular, spotless bathing spots is the beach in the small resort of Charco del Palo. This is where the first official nudist beach in the Canary Islands was built in the 1970s. In the north-east of Lanzarote, the wild coast stretches with rugged lava rock. Nevertheless, sheltered areas, especially the so-called bathtub, a natural pool, which remains filled with warm sea water at low tide, invite you to a comfortable bath. You can access the pools safely via the specially designed ladders on the steep cliff. Sufficient food is available in the supermarket or in the restaurant.

Our tip: Naturist lovers can enjoy the sun and sea quite undisturbed here.

    Playa del Reducto

For those who would like to combine a shopping trip in the lively island centre with a relaxing beach day, this is the right place at the Playa del Reducto. As the city beach is directly opposite the Arrecife bus station, it is advisable to travel by bus from Puerto del Carmen or Costa Teguise. The sandy beach is considered one of the cleanest on the island with its excellent water quality, and is particularly appreciated by locals. In the nearby park you can take a break from the hot sun under shady palm trees.

Our tip: Try paddleboarding on the tranquil waters of the bay or try out windsurfing.

    Playa de los Pocillos

The perfect place to unwind is the bright, sandy beach of Puerto del Carmen. Allow your feet to be caressed by the soft sand on long walks while the fresh breeze from the Atlantic is a breath of fresh air. You can even travel by bike via the spacious promenade. Guests can use the free parking spaces when travelling by car. You can even stay on the beach after sunset under the starry night sky and drink a cocktail in the vibrant bars and discover the night-life.

Our tip: On mild summer evenings, take a detour to the southern part of the beach, where musical events often take place.
