Beach of Römö

The beach of Römö on the North Sea island of the same name is considered Europe's widest beach. Here you will find everything you need for a successful beach day. Active beach holidaymakers and peace seekers equally get their money's worth. In the Lakolk area windsurfers, beach sailors or kite buggy riders meet to practice their fast-paced sports. It is above all families with children that feel comfortable at Sonderstrand. In the gently sloping sea, the little ones can splash to their heart's content, build sand castles or fly kites. There are toilets and lifeguards to provide the necessary security.

Our tip: On the first weekend in September, the annual kite festival takes place on Römö.

Hvide Sande Beach

The Hvide Sande beach on the Danish west coast runs parallel to the Ringkobing Fjord. On one side you have the smooth water of the fjord and on the other the North Sea. Here you are on one of the top beaches in Denmark, where you can enjoy the beach life to the fullest. Some guests lie relaxed in the sand, others refresh themselves in the water, play beach volleyball or collect shells with the children. Some are very well preserved and walkable. The beach is suitable for swimming as well as for water sports but especially after a storm you can collect excellent shells, adder stone and even amber.

Skagen beach

In the far north of Denmark lies the wide beach of Skagen. It is probably one of the most spectacular beaches ever. Nature lovers will find tremendous shifting dunes and sand as far as the eye can see. The car-free area, Sonderstrand, is ideal for families with small children. Vippefyret is also here, the landmark of Skagen, a reconstruction of the first beacon with an open basket. A walk to the northern tip of Grenen offers you the opportunity to stand with one leg in the North Sea and the other in the Baltic Sea. Enjoy the sight of waves coming from both seas.

Our tip: If you are not so good on foot, you can use the Sandormen (transportation) to get to the top.

Kerteminde North Beach

One of the best beaches in Denmark is the Kerteminde north beach on Funen. Many visitors come here because of the very good water quality and the convenient location on the Great Belt. Since you can walk very far into the sea here before it gets too deep, it is a great location to holiday with children. In the middle of the beach there is a kiosk serving refreshments and small snacks. During peak season, lifeguards ensure the safety of the bathers.

Our tip: Go play a round of golf in between - at the southern end there is a miniature golf course.

Blokhus Beach

The beach of Blokhus in the Jammer Bay is one of the most beautiful bathing beaches in Northern Europe. Finest white sand and many dunes, which always offer a sheltered place: this place promises a perfect beach day on the North Sea. You can drive directly to the water. The beach entices you to many activities such as windsurfing and of course swimming. The beautiful surroundings are also very suitable for hiking or horseback riding. There are many providers where you can rent horses. In the evening you can buy fresh fish right on the beach.

Our tip: If you're in Blokhus during the summer months, do not miss the Blokhus Cannon Guild, which shoots the sun on the beach every night with a Blokhus cannon.

Saltum Beach

A very family-friendly beach in Jammer Bay is the beach of Saltum. It adjoins directly onto Blokhus beach. In the breathtaking nature made up of forest, dunes and fine sand, wonderful beach days are guaranteed. Even the little ones can splash away in the gently sloping water. The hilly area behind the dunes offers many hiking trails. The nature reserve Lille Norge is the habitat of many animals and entices you to long walks. Near the beach there are nice restaurants to take care of your well-being.

Our tip: Take a walk to the Guldagerhöj viewpoint and enjoy the view over the Jammer Bay.

Marielyst Beach

The Marielyst beach on the east coast of the island of Falster offers about 20km of fine sand and has been voted several times as Denmark's best beach. It is bordered by Falstrichen dyke, gently sloping and with shallow water and sandbanks an ideal holiday beach for families with children. This beach also offers the best conditions for water sports such as surfing, kayaking or canoeing. During the main season, lifeguards provide the necessary security.

Our tip: In the Marielyst Golf & Fun Park next to the beach you can try out curious mini golf and segways.

Hestehoved Beach

On the Baltic island of Lolland, near the town of Naksko and at fjord with the same name is the Hestehoved beach. It is also easily accessible for people with disabilities and is especially child-friendly. Because of the many species of birds that live in the fjord, this beach belongs to the Natura 2000 nature reserve. Many attractions such as beach volleyball or mini golf await you on the beach. Outstanding is the 190m long jetty, from which you can easily get into the deep water. The beach is equipped with tables, benches and toilets. A kiosk offers refreshments and snacks.

Our tip: Go back to the restaurant Fjorden - right at the entrance to the beach. Here you have a nice view over the fjord during your meal.

Dueodde Beach

A special highlight and thus one of the top beaches in Denmark is the Dueodde beach on the Baltic island of Bornholm. The white sand and the crystal-clear, turquoise-blue water quickly provide a Caribbean feeling. However, instead of the palm trees there are knotty pines behind the beach. Numerous rocks and sand caves protect against wind and offer space for privacy. Long wooden walkways provide access for disabled people. The Baltic Sea is flat and quiet, so in many places you can enter very far. At the western end of the beach there is a nudist area.

Our tip: Climb up the stairs of the Dueodde lighthouse and enjoy the view over the south of Bornholm and the beautiful coastline.
