Walton Hall and Gardens
Walton Hall and Gardens in Warrington was purchased in 1812 by the Greenall family, famous for their brewing industry. The hall was built during the 1830s, designed by Edmund Sharpe of Lancaster who later became famous for the Gothic revival in Victorian architecture. The gardens have spacious lawns, a Heritage Centre café, picnic and play areas, children's zoo and various other outdoor activities. You will definitely spot some squirrels, and if you're lucky, a weasel! The perfect place for a family day out.
Warrington Museum and Art Gallery
One of the oldest museums in the country, opening in 1857, this museum's collection has grown in excess of 200,000 objects, covering natural sciences, antiquities, social history, numismatics, ethnology and fine and decorative arts. Some of the items are of national significance, but the majority relate to Warrington and the surrounding areas. The museum also provides an award-winning programme of events and temporary exhibitions, such as displays of Banksy, Tracey Emin and Sam Taylor-Wood.
