Pwllheli has two main beaches, Glân y môr beach and the south beach, both of which hold Blue Flag status. Glân y môr beach is one of the Ll?n Peninsula's best-kept secrets, being around three miles of fine sand and pebbles, backed by golden dunes and having useful facilities such as toilets, play areas, shops and a skate park.

Things to do

Walkers will love the Ll?n Peninsular, with its 91-mile long coastal path which runs from nearby Porthmadog to Caernarfon on the north of the peninsula. The path forms part of the 870-mile long Wales Coastal Path, which runs around the entire Welsh coast. The famous Snowdonia National Park is but a short drive away, and is full of varying degrees of walks, from difficult mountain hikes to pleasant valley strolls, all in stunning surroundings.

Visiting golfers should make a trip to the Clwb Golff Pwllheli, with its unique part links, part parkland course, located on the south-facing coastline of Cardigan Bay. The club offers superb views which stretch along the miles of coastline to the mountains of Snowdonia.

Pwllheli's large marina has over 400 berths and is said to be one of the best marinas in the UK. It holds a European Centre of Excellence certification in sailing and is the venue for a number of national and international sailing and water-sports events.

Food and drink

Pwllheli is full of Welsh charm and character, with narrow streets boasting traditional pubs, cafés, restaurants and award-winning fish and chip shops as well as traditional Welsh ice cream.

Visit Allports for the award-winning fish supper, or the Blue Moon Tea Room for a relaxing cuppa. Eduardo's offers superb pasta and pizza while Pili Palas offers warm and comforting home-cooked Welsh fare. Those with a sweet tooth must visit Cadwaladers for traditional and tasty Welsh ice cream.
