Seaside holidays

One of the main attractions for visitors to Nefyn is the town's beautiful seafront. Whether you plan on taking a dip with the kids or relaxing on the sand with a good book, Nefyn's beaches are a popular destination for holidaymakers looking to experience a traditional seaside trip. Dotted along the seafront are shops, cafés and restaurants, selling everything from fish and chips to buckets and spades.

One of the oldest buildings in the area is St Mary's parish church, dating from the 19th century and built on the foundations of a much older church from the 6th century. The church is now home to a Maritime Museum where you can learn about the longstanding relationship between Nefyn and the sea.

Walks along the coast

Nefyn is an excellent base for exploring the varied coastline of the Ll?n Peninsula. There are a number of both walking and bike paths for hikers and ramblers of all abilities. One of the most popular trails will take you from Nefyn to Trwyn Porth Dinllaen via Penrhyn Nefyn and Morfa Nefyn. After a day of exercise and fresh air, make sure you treat yourself with a hearty meal at one of the many local pubs. The Ty Coch Inn is a particularly welcoming place and a great halfway point if you're making the journey to Trwyn Porth Dinllaen.

Further afield

A short drive from Nefyn is Glasfryn Parc Bowling and Activities, an excellent choice if you're on holiday with family where kids and adults can have a go at everything from archery to quad bike trekking. The historical landmark Criccieth Castle is approximately 11 miles from Nefyn in Portmadog and Hells Mouth Beach is around seven miles from the town in Abersoch. Also within driving distance is the dramatic Snowdonia National Park and Mount Snowdonia itself – a must-see for both family trips and romantic getaways.
