Local attractions
The beach at Marazion is unsurprisingly a major draw for visitors. Patrolled by RNLI lifeguards during the summer months, it is the perfect place to relax in peace, build sandcastles, go swimming or try water sports such as stand-up paddle boarding and sailing.
The town's beach is also one of the best places to take a photograph of the spectacular St Michael's Mount, another of the area's top attractions. Sitting atop a rocky island in the middle of the bay are a medieval church and castle that once attracted pilgrims from far and wide. Discover the rich history connected with St Michael's Mount by walking across the causeway to the island at low tide.
Marazion Marsh lies about a mile to the west of the town and is a haven for wildlife. It is home to Cornwall's largest reed bed and more than 250 species of birds have been recorded here, along with 500 types of insects and a similar number of plant varieties. Marazion Museum is the best place to learn about the history of the area.
Stay active by hiring a bike and making use of the numerous cycle trails in the area. Follow the coast to Penzance or carry on a little further to reach the fishing village of Mousehole. Alternatively, lace up your boots and follow the South West Coast Path towards Porthleven.
Shopping
You'll find an impressive selection of independent shops in the centre of town. Head to Market Place to find everything from the local post office and pharmacy to clothes shops and an antiques store.
Marazion is also well known for its art galleries. Whether you're a fan of abstract paintings, ceramics or glassware, you're sure to find plenty to admire.
Eating and drinking
The Kings Arms in the heart of Marazion is a great option if you're looking to enjoy a cool drink while soaking up the afternoon sun, or want a quality evening meal in a warm and friendly pub. The Mount Haven Restaurant offers wonderful modern British cuisine and boasts excellent views across the bay.
Enjoy breakfast or a light lunch at Jordan's Café next to Marazion Beach, or perhaps book a table at Ben's Cornish Kitchen, known for its fresh fish dishes and extensive wine list.
