The ring road in the city centre is where you'll find most Coventry hotels. There are rooms available to suit all budgets, all the way up to the Hilton and luxury boutique hotels outside the city.
Things to do in Coventry
Start with a walk around the city centre to see how much Coventry has to offer. The architectural highlight is Coventry Cathedral, built in the 20th century to replace the 15th-century original. It's one of three historic cathedrals in the city. Another newer structure is Coventry's war memorial, dedicated to Coventry people killed in WWI, WWII and the Gulf War.
Coventry's theatre is the Belgrade, showing comedy, plays and musicals. The Warwick Arts Centre at the city's University of Warwick campus is the largest arts centre outside London.
Have a day out with the family at Laser Quest Coventry or at Ace Karting. There's also the Ricoh Arena, the home of the Wasps rugby club and used for live music concerts. You can even find a casino and leisure facilities inside the arena.
Restaurants
Coventry's multicultural and diverse population means that restaurants of all kinds have sprung up across the city. Chinese, Indian, Italian and British eateries have made it into the top ten on TripAdvisor.
Around 8% of the city's population is Indian, and the number and quality of Coventry's Indian restaurants rivals London's Brick Lane and Manchester's Curry Mile.
The recognisable chains include Nando's for chicken, Bella Italia, Pizza Express, and the gastropub-style Harvester.
Shopping
Whether you need to pick up a few toiletries or buy some new shoes, the shops in Coventry have it all. There are hundreds of shops in the city, and all of the big name supermarkets have stores here.
The Broadgate shopping area has a statue of famous Coventry figure Lady Godiva in the middle. The area is vehicle-free, giving you more freedom to stroll around and window shop.
Coventry Market has close to 170 stalls, and is near the Lower Precinct Shopping Centre. The market opens every day except Sunday.
