TOP 10: The most beautiful Bulgaria beaches

Make the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, located in the east of the Balkan state, your next holiday destination. Long, sprawling sandy beaches and hidden swimming spots in picturesque bays, turquoise waters with temperatures over 22 °C - all this makes Bulgaria a popular destination for beach lovers in summer. Along the 378km long coastline you will find over 200 beaches as well as numerous famous seaside resorts and port cities, from Golden Sands, Albena and Varna in the north, through Nesebar and Sunny Beach, all the way to Burgas and Sozopol in the south. So that you can plan your beach holiday perfectly, we present you the most beautiful beaches in Bulgaria.

Byala

Families with children in particular will feel comfortable on the beach of the idyllic resort of Byala, which is protected by a thick cliff. It drops flat into the sea, making it one of the best beaches for swimming. Several dining options and a large playground at the northern entrance complete the beach fun in Byala. At the southern area of the beach there is a nudist zone.

Our tip: During the summer months, the Surf School offers lessons for children over the age of 10.

Sunny Beach

Sunny Beach is huge in terms of scale. At 4.5km in length and 100m wide in some places, you will find everything you need for perfect beach fun. You can try all kinds of water sports here and there is a large amusement park with many colourful rides which is open until late at night. At night, the beach turns into a mile-long party and it is open until the early hours of the morning. Sunny Beach is the ideal destination to combine party holidays with beach holidays.

Our tip: Stroll across the pier of Burgas. From the observation deck at the end you have a wonderful view over the sea and the beach.

Nesebar

Hidden behind dunes, the finest sand stretches over a length of 1.3km along the turquoise waters. Many umbrellas and sunbeds are available for you to relax. In addition, the beach offers the best conditions for windsurfing. Two surf schools offer courses for beginners and those at a more advanced level. You can also rent a kayak or whiz through the bay with the banana boat or the fly-sofa. On the southern part of the beach there is a nudist area.

Our tip: Treat yourself to a soothing massage right on the beach.

Pomorie

The beach in the east of the Pomorie peninsula, which is one of the top beaches in Bulgaria, is divided into many bays by breakwaters. In the wellness centre directly on the beach you can be pampered from head to toe. At the south-eastern end of the beach you may even bring your four-legged friend. The beach is full of water sports, a beach volleyball court and a bungee trampoline. Beach bars and cosy bars invite you to linger.

Our tip: Rent a bike or quad and tour the 2km promenade that runs along the beach.

Vaya Beach

Vaya Beach is separated from Irakli Beach simply by a river of the same name, which is primarily visited by locals. Steep cliffs and dense forest surround this idyllic beach, which is why it is especially popular with nature lovers. Chic pubs, umbrellas and sunbeds provide holidaymakers with the perfect beach feeling. Due to the gently sloping beach, this bathing area is particularly suitable for families with small children.

Our tip: If you get hungry, you will find two beautiful restaurants at the beach entrance, which have an open design that promises a unique atmosphere.

Trakata Beach

The Trakata Beach is nestled in dense greenery, in a small idyllic bay east of Varna and is also very popular with Bulgarians. Thanks to the breakwater, the water is very calm and therefore recommended for families with children. Here you can splash about without worries and watch the fishermen at work in the adjacent harbour. In the fish restaurant between the harbour and the beach, you can enjoy freshly caught fish from the grill in a very cosy atmosphere.

Our tip: There are no umbrellas, so bring your own.

Venid Beach

Venid Beach in Sunny Beach is impressive because of its great attention to detail. Adjacent to the marina of Sveti Vlas, this beach is particularly recommended for guests with high expectations. Palm-covered umbrellas and swinging beach beds invite you to relax. In the well-kept massage area, you can enjoy soothing massages and in original restaurants you will be spoiled with culinary delights. A surf school, a beach volleyball court and a pedalo hire provide a sportier option. If you are here on holiday, you can relax on a real dream beach.

Our tip: Come to the beach in the evening and sip delicious cocktails until the early morning.

Albena Beach

The beach of Albena, about 30km north of Varna, is a pure children's paradise and therefore particularly suitable for families. On the gently sloping beach, the little ones can splash to their heart's content and build sand castles. But water sports enthusiasts and peace seekers alike will find their place on this 7km long beach. Everything is on offer here, which belongs to a perfect beach day. A boat trip, a ride on the banana boat or a ride on a jet ski - you are guaranteed to never get bored. Cosy loungers and parasols provide relaxation and a variety of dining options ensure your physical well-being.

Our tip: You can borrow books at the beach library.

Ravda

The beach of Ravda, a small coastal town near Burgas, is a varied, long beach. In a sandy bay in the north an old shipwreck rises from the water, which is considered the landmark of the place. The extensive sandy beach offers its visitors plenty of space for a successful day at the beach. Parasols, comfortable loungers and dining facilities are available as well as providers of all kinds of water sports. The environment surrounding the beach entices you to walk through the green nature.

Our tip: At the southern end of the beach, beyond the breakwater, is a hidden natural bay where you can retreat to enjoy privacy.

Obzor

The beach of Obzor is bordered to the north by an impressive steep coast and the lush green of the coastal forest. Children can build splendid sand castles with their parents or splash happily in the gently sloping water. Beach chairs and umbrellas offer space for relaxation and those who prefer extra comfort can take a seat on one of the large beach beds. Strolling along the beach promenade you will find restaurants, nice bars and souvenir shops. Water sports enthusiasts can rent surfboards, jet skis or boats from several suppliers.

Our tip: Let yourself be drawn across the sea on a water sofa.
