Enchanting towns
Fez is an ancient walled city – or medina –where you can witness fabulous palaces, mosques and souks. Walking its warren of narrow streets is like strolling around an open-air museum which is abundant with 1,300 years of Moroccan culture and history. The heart and soul of Marrakesh is Jemma el-Fnaa, a market place that's a kaleidoscope of sights and sounds. Pass by snake charmers, dancers and sorcerers as you peruse stalls selling artisan crafts, fresh regional fare and traditional herbal medicines. The serene and secluded town of Chefchaouen, framed by the Rif Mountains, is a veritable blue pearl in a Moroccan oyster. The azure hues of its buildings confer on this little town a calming and beautifully low-key vibe.
Moroccan adventures
Whether travelling in a 4x4 or riding atop a camel, the Sahara Desert makes for an exotic realm in which to explore. Make your way to Erg Chebbi, close to the town of Rissani, where you'll encounter what are probably the highest dunes in the country. And a trek that starts at Imlil in the High Atlas Mountains takes you to North Africa's highest peak, Jbel Toubkal, which is more than 1,200 metres tall. Along the way, stop to see ancient Berber villages while admiring the gorgeously rugged landscape.
Rainbow falls
Close to the little village of Ouzoud in the Middle Atlas Mountains, you'll find the awe-inspiring Ouzoud Waterfalls. Time your visit right and there's every chance you'll seeing rainbows breaking through the 110 metre drop. Dip into the pool below the cascades to enjoy a swim, an experience that is even more magical in the twilight hours.

Not only the inspiration for one of the greatest movies in the history of cinema, Casablanca is a place where French Art Deco collides with traditional Moroccan architecture. One of the many highlights of this, the country's largest city, is the Neogothic Sacré-Coeur Cathedral, built in 1930 at a time when the country was under French rule.
Eating and drinking
Essaouira's La Fromagerie is quite possibly the best restaurant in town. The chef, Akeem, and his staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome to this gorgeous little courtyard eatery. Sample the delicious Moroccan menu which includes sublime tempura cheese among other tantalising treats.
