Tyntesfield

Perhaps one of the finest Gothic Revival buildings in the country, Tyntesfield is a striking Victorian house that was built to replace a former hunting lodge and emulates the style of an older medieval structure. Bristol City Museum and Art Gallery

Only a short drive from Portishead hotels and restaurants, the Bristol City Museum and Art Gallery was founded in 1823 and moved to its current site in 1905. The Clifton Suspension Bridge

Just a seven-mile journey from Portishead, the Clifton Suspension Bridge is one of the defining landmarks of the Industrial Revolution and celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2014. The bridge was pioneered by the successful Leeds-born civil engineer John Hawkshaw and the Kent-born civil engineer William Henry Barlow, who used the original design that was produced by Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

Unfortunately, Brunel passed away before the structure was completed, although the bridge became the venue for the Brunel 200 weekend celebration in 2006, which marked two centuries since Brunel was born.
