Mutiny

One of Invergordon's most well -known historical moments came about in 1931 when 1,000 sailors went on open mutiny. Britain at the time was in the grip of an economic crisis and the National government, led by Ramsay Macdonald, needed to find ways of cutting expenditure. This included reducing the pay of all military personnel. An ensuing mutiny occurred, lasting two days.
