Sweeping across the bay at the foot of Burntisland is the town's sandy beach. With plenty of rock pools to explore and safe waters to bathe in, Burntisland Beach is a favourite with day-trippers and locals alike.

Burntisland Golf House Club also plays a large part in attracting visitors to the area. The 18-hole course has its own unique character and, of course, offers players stunning views out across the water. The town's Beacon Leisure Centre has a 25-metre swimming pool, but more adventurous souls might want to consider taking a scuba diving lesson courtesy of the team at The Dive Bunker.

Sites of historic interest in the local area include Rossend Castle, which has roots dating back to the early 12th century, although the current building is mostly from the 16th century. History lovers should also consider visiting Burntisland Parish Church, which was completed in 1595.

Highland Games

Why not time your visit to coincide with the town's Highland Games festival in July? Be sure to secure a hotel in Burntisland in plenty of time though as the annual event attracts thousands of visitors. See traditional heavy events such as the caber toss, as well as more modern additions including cycling, track and field competitions, live music and food and drink stalls.
