You can find plenty of cheap deals and package holidays for Ibiza. It's also only around two hours direct from UK airports. Everyone comes out to play at night, when the island's world-famous bars and clubs open. Playa d'en Bossa, San Antonia and Ibiza Town are the places to be. On student holidays to Amsterdam, forgo the sea and sand in favour of pretty canals and museums. You might even learn something new while you're there. The city's easy-going reputation is well known. Cheap flights to Amsterdam run regularly from Birmingham, London Luton and Liverpool. Visit one of the ‘brown cafés’ for the Dutch take on the local pub. Have a laugh together at the Sex Museum, and pre-book tickets for the Heineken Experience.
This island in the Mediterranean has the warm weather and familiarity of Spain with an international atmosphere. Staying in the capital city, Palma, will keep you close to the airport. Take a day trip out to the Hidropark waterpark, or take your pick from the island's playas and beaches. If you're feeling brave, sign up for guided rock climbing – all the equipment's provided.
Majorca's main draw is Magaluf, on the east coast of the island. From Palma airport, it's roughly half an hour’s drive away. Magaluf nowadays has a slightly more laid-back atmosphere than in previous years, yet there's still plenty of fun to be found. The main strip's packed with bars and nightclubs – sign up for a package tour or wristband to see more of them. You'll also have tons of space to sunbathe on the 620-metre beach.
Fly from Manchester, Birmingham, London or Leeds to get to Tenerife direct. It's the largest of the Canary Islands, so you'll find all the shops and restaurants you need. Try and go in February to catch the Santa Cruz Carnival, an epic world-class party second only to Rio de Janeiro's carnival. The Playa de las Americas area has a buzzing atmosphere and is the destination for under-25s. Tenerife's university is at La Laguna, so head there to mingle with other students at the local bars.
