Sun and sea
Miami, refreshed by the waters of Ocean, is a magnet for worshippers of both sun and sea. From Lummus Park in the south to Oleta River State Park in the north, Miami Beach has long tracts of golden sands and warm inviting water that is kissed by the blazing sun.
Animal magic
From African lions and American alligators to two varieties of zebra, Zoological Wildlife Foundation and Zoo Miami pretty much have the animal kingdom covered. Also, at Safari Edventure – for education and adventure – you'll enjoy a hands-on experience with the wildlife, whether cuddling a kangaroo, dancing with wolves or even holding an alligator.
Italy in Miami
Created as a subtropical winter home at the beginning of the last century, Vizcaya has more a feel of a Mediterranean mansion than one you might expect to find in Miami. One of the largest homes in south Florida, this faux-Italian manor house has extensive and beautifully maintained gardens. In the grounds you'll find several trails, each of which make for a pleasant stroll through the forest. The house itself is gorgeous – recalling the villas of 18th-century Italy – and is stuffed with art and antiques. The eastern wing opens onto an expansive terrace that leads you down to the waters of Biscayne Bay.
Sea cruise
Hop on a guided boat trip and explore more than 40 miles of Biscayne Bay. Visit the best sights, hear the stories and learn the secrets of this fabulous area. See the locations used in shows such as CSI Miami and Miami Vice. Take a trip to the Venetian Islands, where you'll gasp at the enormity and extravagance of the celebrity homes that populate Star Island and Fisher Island.
Miami shopping
Dolphin Mall is the city's largest shopping centre with more than 240 retailers as well as a huge choice of eateries. With a delightful ocean-side location, Bayside Market Place has a tremendous choice of big-name retailers, and interesting independently owned businesses. This is a perfect place to shop and enjoy a meal, and you can even charter a boat from here.
Eating and drinking in Miami
CinéBistro, located in Dolphin Mall, has spacious and comfortable seats in which to watch first-run movies and independent films while enjoy in-theatre dining. Also, at the bar you can partake of a drink from the extensive wine and cocktail list.
Miami's Latin influence permeates the city in many ways, not least in the food of Toro Toro, a contemporary steakhouse that provides chic, comfortable surroundings in which to enjoy a delicious steak or seafood dish.
