1. La Boqueria

One of the most famous markets in the world, Mercado de la Boqueria has a variety of mouth-watering food, from beautiful displays of fruit, to colourful assortments of smoothies, to all the jamón and seafood tapas you can dream of. Capture the liveliness (and deliciousness) for your photo album, it’ll make a great souvenir.

2. Parc Güell

Is there any better spot for a Barcelona selfie? Get a shot amidst the fantastical structures of Parc Güell. This fantasyland is another creation of Gaudí’s and it’s almost like wandering through his mind. You could spend all day staring at the details of every bit of this quirky park. If you’re into design, art and photography, there’s really no better place for you in Barcelona.

3. Sagrada Família

For the perfect snapshot of Barcelona, look no further than this majestic work of art by Gaudí. This iconic church embodies Barcelona – La Sagrada Família is to Barcelona what the Eiffel Tower is to Paris. Head to the terrace at Hotel Ayre Rosselló for the best view of the towers.

4. Palau de la Música Catalana

The minute you walk into this concert hall, you know immediately that you’re somewhere special. This modernista style building sees over 300,000 visitors a year and it’s not hard to see why. The intricate details and floral motifs make it a great spot for art lovers. Book a guided tour, or better yet, try to see a show during your visit. Be sure to capture the grandeur of this theatre with a panoramic photo – this is one of Barcelona's most beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

5.  Plaça Reial

This square is the perfect place to watch the world go by. With plenty of cafés and bars, it’s a great stop for those wandering Las Ramblas and the Gothic Quarter. If you’re lucky, you might get a great shot of street performers by the fountain. Another great time to take a photo is at night, when the street lamps shine next to the palm trees.

6. Kiss mural in the Gothic Quarter

At Plaça d’Isidre Nonell in the Barri Gòtic, look out for a mural called El món neix en cada besada (or The world begins with every kiss). The artwork is actually made from small photo tiles that feature an image representing freedom in some way. The mosaic was only supposed to be a temporary exhibition in 2014 but given its beauty and popularity,  it was never taken down. Great shot for the ’gram.

7. Plaça del Pi

For the oldest sgraffito in Barcelona, head to Placa del Pi. Sgraffito is almost like an early form of graffiti that’s comprised of scraped designs in coloured plaster. It gives buildings an incredible vibrancy and an artistic touch, and this charming square has some beautiful examples of it. Get the perfect shot here while you’re wandering through the Gothic Quarter.

8. Casa Batlló

The wacky and wonderful Casa Batlló is another one of Antoni Gaudí’s masterpieces. The spectacular facade will catch your eye as you walk down the Passeig de Gràcia. The inside is as beautiful as the outside, so definitely consider a tour. At every turn, there is an amazing detail to admire.
