No Art Festival (Amsterdam, Netherlands)

Amsterdam has no shortage of electronic music events, but No Art is something genuinely different. An independent label at heart, No Art programmes unconventional art performances and pioneering musicians at unique locations. Now in its fifth edition, the festival gathers at the beautiful grounds of Flevopark in the heart of Amsterdam. Expect a summer weekend built for movement, emotion and pure connection with world-class artists, deep grooves, and artful staging at its centre. Plus, Amsterdam is one of Europe's easiest city breaks; you can be there in less time than it takes to drive across the UK. So, if you've ever wanted artistic festival energy without the mud, this is it.

Sónar Festival (Barcelona, Spain)

Barcelona in June is a glorious prospect at the best of times, and Sónar gives you the perfect excuse to book that holiday. Billed as a festival of advanced music and multimedia art, Sónar remains at the forefront of forward-thinking festivals, with a diverse line-up of more than 100 acts on six stages. The 3-day event will be hosted at a single venue for the first time. The split between Sónar by Day and Sónar by Night means you can pace yourself - tapas and sunshine in the afternoon, then proper dancing until sunrise.

Sziget Festival (Budapest, Hungary)

If you're going to do one overseas festival this summer, make it Sziget. Taking place on Budapest's Óbuda Island, the so-called 'Island of Freedom' hosts not just music but circus, performance art, cultural spaces and installations - with refreshed stages and new experiences for its 31st edition. The line-up for 2026 leans heavily British, making it a real home-from-home atmosphere on the dancefloor. Running Tuesday to Saturday, you can fly in, enjoy the festival, and be back in your own bed by Sunday night - all while squeezing in a day trip to one of Europe's most spectacular capital cities just over the bridge. Budapest is also considerably kinder on the wallet than many Western European destinations.

NOS Alive (Lisbon, Portugal)

Lisbon has quietly become one of Europe's most-loved festival destinations, and NOS Alive is a huge part of why. Known for bringing huge international stars to Portugal, the motto 'beach by day, music by night' is in full effect, with acts typically starting in the early evening and lasting through to the early hours. The venue at Passeio Marítimo de Algés overlooks the Tagus River, and the festival is just a short train ride from central Lisbon - meaning you can spend your days exploring Alfama's cobbled streets or lazing at nearby beaches before heading in for showtime. The 2026 line-up firmly reinforces the festival's reputation as one of Europe's top summer events and a favourite among UK festival-goers.

Rock in Roma (Rome, Italy)

Rock in Roma is unlike any other festival - and that's precisely what makes it so special. Rather than concentrating all concerts into a single weekend, the festival unfolds over nearly two months, creating a dynamic musical season that gives fans the flexibility to plan trips around their favourite acts. Now in its 16th edition, it's held at the Ippodromo delle Capannelle racecourse; an open-air venue where you watch world-class live music with the warmth of a Roman summer night and a glass of wine in hand. It's the ideal excuse to combine a gig with a proper Roman holiday: the Colosseum in the afternoon, singing along with the festival crowds in the evening.

Tomorrowland (Boom, Belgium)

EDM fans, Tomorrowland is your cathedral - and 2026 is shaping up to be one of its most spectacular years yet. The festival is returning with a massive line-up, including a headline-grabbing first-ever appearance from Calvin Harris. Over 500 artists will perform across 16 stages, and this year's theme, Consciencia, promises an immersive world unlike anything else on the festival circuit. The iconic Atmosphere stage - a cathedral of dark techno inside a thundering tent - remains a rite of passage for any first-timer. Getting there from the UK is easy: fly into Brussels or Antwerp, and you're just a short train ride from the site in Boom.

Rock en Seine (Paris, France)

Paris at the end of August is one of Europe's great pleasures - warm evenings, long light, and the city somehow even more beautiful than usual. Rock en Seine takes place at the Domaine National de Saint-Cloud, a sweeping parkland estate on the western edge of the city, attracting thousands of festival-goers across five consecutive days of live music. The setting is genuinely stunning: tiered lawns, ancient trees and a backdrop of the Seine valley, all of which make it feel far more civilised than your average muddy field. The 2026 line-up is one of the strongest in years, with different headliners across five nights - a rare treat that means no agonising clashes, and no compromises. It's also an easy Eurostar trip from London St Pancras, making it one of the most accessible festival city breaks.

Love International (Tisno, Croatia)

This is a holiday and a festival, seamlessly woven into one gloriously indulgent week on the Croatian coast and soundtracked by some of the world's leading DJs from across the electronic music spectrum. Taking place over seven full days and nights at The Garden resort just outside Tisno on the Dalmatian coastline, the music programme runs 24 hours a day, stretching across Sunrise Sessions in the Olive Grove, the main Garden and Beach stages, boat parties along the coast, and the infamous Barbarella's Discotheque - an after-hours club that rolls from midnight until 6am every single night. The crowd is international, the vibe is deeply welcoming, and the setting is stunning.

Roskilde Festival (Roskilde, Denmark)

Roskilde is the largest festival in Northern Europe. Running for eight days across two weekends, hosting upwards of 130,000 fans and more than 180 acts. What makes it truly special, though, is its soul: Roskilde proudly remains a non-profit, donating every year to various charities. So every ticket (and every pint) you buy is going to a good cause. The line-up spans everything from stadium-filling headliners to cutting-edge emerging artists, and the campsite is a legendary beast in itself. Even when the stages close, something is always happening; you’ll find yourself dancing with people you don't know alongside tents at four in the morning. Getting there is straightforward for British travellers: fly into Copenhagen and take a short train ride directly to the festival site.

Primavera Sound (Barcelona, Spain)

Primavera Sound is the festival that other festivals are quietly jealous of. Held at the Parc del Fòrum - a vast waterfront site where you can watch three stages simultaneously with the Mediterranean sea glittering behind them - it has built a reputation over two decades for booking line-ups that feel genuinely curated rather than just assembled. The 2026 edition is being talked about as a return to the festival's roots, with an intergenerational mix of rock's foremost innovators and a momentous return to the stage for acts like My Bloody Valentine and The xx.

BST Hyde Park (London)

Keep your passport in the drawer. BST is the civilised festival for people who love gourmet street food and sun loungers but absolutely draw the line at sleeping in a tent. It’s a literal walk in the park. London has hosted some of the biggest names in the world on Hyde Park’s Great Oak Stage - and 2026 is no exception. The festival features headline acts on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, with free entry and entertainment on the days in between, making it far more than just a series of gigs. It’s a proper summer occasion right in the heart of central London, and with a Tube station right outside to deliver you to a comfortable bed at the end of the night.

Lollapalooza Berlin (Germany)

Lollapalooza needs no introduction. The brand that started in Chicago in 1991 and went on to conquer the world eventually landed in Berlin in 2015, and it's been one of Europe's most popular festival weekends ever since. The Olympic Park in the west of Berlin hosts the festival - a venue with history and grandeur in a city that’s welcoming, affordable and easy to explore. Beyond the music, a large part of the festival grounds transforms into an interactive exhibition area spanning glittering festival fashion, a sustainability hub and a dedicated children's area. This combination of a world-class festival with one of Europe's great capital cities is hard to argue with.

Glitch Festival (Malta)

The quiet island of Malta has transformed in recent years into one of Europe's wildest hotspots for electronic music, and Glitch is at the heart of that rise - delivering rooftop pool parties, secret ancient vaults and a high-energy boat party as its sun-soaked finale.Celebrating its tenth edition in 2026, the festival has pulled together a seriously strong line-up led by heavyweights in techno and house, all against a backdrop of Mediterranean heat and impossibly blue water. Flights to Malta are short, inexpensive and frequent in August, and the island itself gives you plenty of reasons to stay longer and explore beyond the festival.

Mad Cool Festival (Madrid, Spain)

Ten years in, and Mad Cool is still absolutely living up to its name. One of the world's most important music festivals celebrates its anniversary edition at the Iberdrola Music space in Villaverde Tourism Madrid - a purpose-built open-air venue on the southern edge of the the city that has been carefully designed to handle large crowds without ever feeling chaotic. World-class artists will perform across four days, with the line-up structured so that each night feels genuinely distinct - rock and alternative on the opening night, pop and indie on Thursday, high-energy on Friday, and a closing Saturday stacked with legends and cult favourites. The Spanish capital is reliably scorching in July, so go prepared - but evening temperatures drop beautifully, and there are few better places in Europe to watch a headline act under a warm night sky with a cold drink in hand.
