History
Krakow is a brilliant place to visit if you’re a bit of a history buff as it has lots of fantastic historical buildings for you to explore. One of the best places to visit is Wawel castle. The castle is a symbol of national Polish identity and was originally the seat of the Kings of Poland. Today, the castle is home to a very interesting museum which has a collection that includes the Crown Treasury and Armoury, and an intriguing collection of oriental art.
One of the most famous historical sites in the city is Oskar Schindler’s factory which was the subject of the world-renowned film, Schindler’s List. The city bought the factory in 2007 and turned it into an excellent museum. The interactive exhibits offer fascinating insights into the Schindler story as well as the history of the Nazi occupation of Krakow.

The Old Town district of the city has some fantastic antique stores for you to wander around as well as a good selection of jewellery and art on offer.
Another great place to shop is the shopping mall Galeria Krakowska. Ideally located in the centre of Krakow, the mall has a huge collection of shops with some luxury brands on offer like Hugo Boss, Lacoste and Tommy Hilfiger. Local food
Krakow has lots of local Polish specialities that you won’t want to leave without trying. The most famous local dish is obwarzanek which is a special type of bread roll in the shape of a ring. The bread is blanched in salt water and is sprinkled on one side with poppy seeds. They’re really delicious and make an excellent picnic lunch.
