The Museum of Somerset
If you're interested in learning more about the history of the area, visit the Museum of Somerset, where you can find out about the county's prehistoric origins. Observe the beautiful Low Ham mosaic, the famous Frome Hoard, and other historically significant artefacts related to Somerset, and see how the county has evolved to the present day.
Taunton Castle
The museum is housed in Taunton Castle, which was established before the Norman Conquest and is now a prestigious Grade I listed structure. Construction of the current building began in the early-12th century, however, although much of it was remodelled in the 17th century.
