The sea front

For the best beach in Rhyl, head to the unspoilt Rhyl East beach, perfect for a walk along the sand or a paddle in the sea. On the seafront, SeaQuarium has species from all over the world. Explore the creatures of the ocean in nine different zones with an outdoor sea lion cove where you can watch shows. Witness harbour seals perform tricks and jump through hoops.

Family fun

Bodelwyddan Castle and Park provides hands-on, interactive activities for children, a chance to dress up in Victorian clothing as well as guided tours. After seeing the castle there is a large park with woodlands to explore and even a maze to get lost in.

Rhyl Miniature Railway is a perfect day out for the family. Starting at Central Station where there is a museum, the steam trains take passengers around Marine Lake, where you can find the Marine Lake and Heritage Trail to explore.

Rhuddlan Castle is a 13th-century riverside castle. Take time to explore the ruins and surroundings, and in the summer it's an ideal place to enjoy a picnic.

Drift Park on the promenade provides landscaped gardens, a paddling pool with fountains and mini golf for all to enjoy. You can even hire sun loungers and deck chairs.

Food and drink

If you are at the seaside, fish and chips are almost obligatory. Les and Rita's Fish Bar serve freshly-cooked crispy fish and chunky chips that you can take away or eat in. The Town Fryer also offers excellent fish and chips with a friendly and efficient service.

Rhyl has a variety of restaurants, such as Indian and Italian which you can find in the town centre. Rossini's Italian restaurant serves great quality cuisine at very reasonable prices, and situated close to the seafront, it's an ideal eating spot after an evening stroll. If you want low-priced drinks and English/Welsh food, you can head to The Sussex pub and enjoy a warm welcome.
