Local attractions
Marlow Museum, run by a group of enthusiastic volunteers, is a great place to get to grips with the history of the town. Located in Higginson Park, the museum is open on weekends between March and October.
Get a different view of Marlow by taking a boat trip along the River Thames from the jetty at Higginson Park to Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire. Alternatively, you might like to spend the day being pampered at Danesfield House Hotel and Spa.
Shopping
The centre of Marlow is a great place for shopping and there are a large number of national chains and independent retailers based along High Street, Spittal Street and West Street. Fashion stores, gift shops, local jewellers and antiques shops can all be found dotted throughout the town.
Marlow Community Market, which specialises in local produce, runs on the last Saturday of every month at Liston Hall in Chapel Street.
Surrounding area
Outside of Marlow town centre you'll find a huge variety of attractions within easy reach. Anyone with children should consider a trip to the Roald Dahl Museum in Great Missenden, which offers a fascinating and fun look at the author's work through interactive galleries and workshops. Legoland Windsor Resort is another favourite with youngsters, as is Bekonscot Model Village near Beaconsfield, the world's oldest miniature village park.
Eating and drinking
Opportunities to enjoy fine cuisine are plentiful in and around Marlow. Vanilla Pod offers a wonderful fine dining experience, and Villa D'Este is a great option if you're looking for authentic Italian cuisine. The Hand & Flowers is a Michelin 2-star restaurant serving quality food in a casual and informal environment.
The nearby village of Bray has also become synonymous with good food thanks to the presence of a number of eateries owned by celebrity chefs. Heston Blumenthal's The Crown is set within a traditional 16th-century inn and serves traditional British pub classics in a warm and friendly environment. The Hinds Head is a Michelin 1-star restaurant, also owned by Blumenthal, while The Waterside Inn is a Michelin 3-star restaurant owned by Michel and Albert Roux.
