Seaside holidays in Bognor Regis

With long stretches of clean, sandy and award-winning beach, Bognor Regis is a summer paradise. It's an attractive destination for water sports fans, families, and those who just want to relax and sunbathe.

The pier dates back to the 19th century, and is Grade II listed. It's near to the mini golf course and wildlife-filled Hotham Park. If you want to see the area before you even set off, check the pier's 24-hour online webcam.

A ‘shared use' promenade winds along the coastline, and the Bognor Regis Promenade train is a quicker way to see it. You're allowed to walk, cycle or skate here – or push a baby buggy.

Most of the town centre is pedestrianised and very walkable. Pop into Rockshop or The Sweet Jar for classic seaside rock candy. To find souvenirs, The Arcade is one street with a high number of gift shops.

Places to eat

The staple cuisine of seaside resorts is fish and chips. Even local pubs, such as The Thatched House, put lots of fresh fish on the menu.

Sample some pre-show food before a night at the Alexandra Theatre within the Regis Centre. Their bar and restaurant is operated by the pub chain, Brewers Fayre.

The presence of a holiday park also means you'll find tried-and-tested chains to satisfy families and fussy eaters. Bognor Regis has a McDonald's, a Pizza Hut and a Burger King.

West Sussex sightseeing

The boom in popularity for the town started when Bognor Regis' rail station first opened in 1864. The line runs from London Victoria, taking just over an hour and a half.

Get out and see the South Downs, one of the newer National Parks in the UK. It claims some of the most accessible routes for walking, cycling and horse riding. Buses from Bognor Regis will take you to the heart of the park at Midhurst.
