The cathedral

Finished in the early-16th century, Seville Cathedral is an astounding Gothic landmark that is 135m in length and is one of the world's largest churches. The site, which is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, is known for its stupendous Giralda bell tower and is a powerful symbol of Seville's affluence in the late Middle Ages.

The Plaza de España

Completed in 1928, the Plaza de España is a majestic Renaissance Revival and Neomudéjar landmark built for the Ibero-American Exposition that took place between 1929 and 1930. This wonderful square, which was designed by the prominent architect Aníbal González and features remarkable decorated tiles known as the 'Province Alcoves’, was a filming location for some of the Star Wars movies and surrounds a beautiful canal.

The Alcázar of Seville

An enchanting royal palace, the Alcázar of Seville was built in the Mudéjar architectural style and dates back to the Middle Ages. See the glorious Al Andalus gardens and the Galeria de Grutescos (Grotto Gallery), and admire the intrinsic Renaissance decoration of the Patio de las Doncellas. You should also spend some time at the chapel of La Casa de Contratación (House of Trade), where you can observe The Virgin of the Navigators painting, believed to be the first painting depicting the discovery of the New World.

The Metropol Parasol

This unique wooden landmark, pioneered by the esteemed Stuttgart-born architect and artist Jürgen Mayer-Hermann, comprises half a dozen parasols shaped like mushrooms, and was completed in 2011. The structure, which is 150m wide, has even been nicknamed Las Setas de la Encarnación (the Incarnación's mushrooms), and is actually held together by glue.
