Magical deals on hotels in MarrakechBoho meets Berber as bargain-hunting travellers head into the souks and medinas of Marrakech to sip mint tea with friendly locals.Choc-a-bloc with charm, Marrakech is a feast for all the senses. Aromatic spices drift out from the Medina, the hum of haggling rattles around the labyrinthine souks, and lemon-scented tagines will put you in the mood for dinner.

Marrakech has been picked as one of our destinations for Where's hot in September. So be sure to check out more information on events and activities such as the Imichil Marriage Festival.

Djemaa el-Fna

A brilliant if slightly overwhelming way to start your trip to Marrakech is with a visit to the Djemaa el-Fna square. The square has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is home to a lively market. You'll be able to see snake charmers and acrobats while you sample some exotic food from its many barbecues. The south-west end of the market is home to belly dancers and amateur boxers. It's not hard to see why the square has been a centre of culture for 1,000 years and it's a great introduction to the city.

If you're a fan of relaxing spas you should try visiting a Moroccan hammam which offers something very different from what you might be used to. If you visit a traditional hammam they will offer you a gommage. The treatment is a full-body scrub that will restore your skin to amazing new-born-baby softness via the very rough application of a special glove. More modern hammams are also available and they offer private steam rooms and relaxing oil massages.

Jardin Majorelle

If you want to explore some of Marrakech's nature a great place to visit is the Jardin Majorelle gardens. Formally owned by Yves Saint Laurent, the gardens contain an exquisite collection of rare plants and flowers. The garden also has a great café offering juices and salads where you can sit and enjoy the view.

Walking Tours

Marrakech can be a very difficult place to navigate through by yourself so a great way to get your bearings and see all the tops sights is with a walking tour. The tours are usually intimate affairs with a maximum number of seven people per group. You will get a chance to visit the splendid Bahia Palace which has fantastic gardens and many tranquil courtyards. The tour also visits the excellent Photography Museum of Marrakech which has a vast collection of over 4,500 photos that offer a trip back in time to Morocco's past.
