Hotels in Berlin

A hub of creativity and packed with famous landmarks that have survived its turbulent past, the capital city of Germany, Berlin is a vibrant and fascinating city.

Historic Berlin

A popular stop for visitors is The Reichstag, a grand old building that’s home to the German parliament. The highlight is the Reichstag’s roof terrace and striking glass dome where you can enjoy panoramic views of the city. If you want to stay in the heart of the city, check out our range of Berlin hotels near the Reichstag.

From here, you can wander down to historic Brandenburg Gate and keep your camera at the ready to capture the Berlin’s most recognizable monument. Then on to the Holocaust Memorial (Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe). Visit this special place, anytime day or night, to remember the victims of the Holocaust. Explore the paths and concrete slabs which form the maze-like memorial. It you want to learn more, the underground exhibition room at the base of the memorial, is open 10am to 8pm.

During the Cold War, the Berlin Wall divided the city until that landmark year, in 1989, when most of the wall was quickly knocked down. All that remains is a small section known as the East Side Gallery which now stands as a symbol of the triumph of freedom over oppression.  See the remaining wall, covered in over 100 murals depicting the political statements and artistic visions of international artists.

Shopping in Berlin City Centre

If shopping is on your agenda, head to Friedrichshain for unique boutiques run by Berlin-based designers or browse the vintage shops of Prenzlauer Berg. For music fans, Berlin is a great city to buy records at bargain prices. OyeRecords and Hard Wax are two of the best. If your luxury Berlin hotel is in Charlottenburg, you can browse high-end clothes designers and young labels at continental Europe’s largest department store, Kadewe.

Berlin after dark

As for Berlin after dark, you’re spoilt for choice. Go clubbing at great heights and hear DJs spin deep house at Weekend Club on the 12th, 15th and rooftop floors of Soviet tower block Haus Des Reisens. If you like to be spontaneous on a night out, head to the Prenzlauer Berg and Friedrichshain neighbourhoods of East Berlin where you’ll find plenty of hipster bars, cool clubs, live music venues and restaurants. Your best bet is to explore the streets surrounding Eberswalder Strasse U-Bahn in Prenzlauer Berg and Simon-Dach-Strasse in Friedrichshain. While you’re in the area, you can try your luck getting into one of the world’s best nightclubs, Berghain. Found on border of Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain, live acts and DJs pump out electronic music in this converted warehouse - it’s notoriously difficult to get in, so dress casually as the Berliners do. Find yourself a cheap Berlin hotel in Prenzlauer Berg to stay close to the action.
