• Flight time: Barcelona and Reus are the main hubs for flights to Costa Dorada. Flights depart from London and other major UK airports to both Barcelona El Prat and Reus Airport and take approximately 2 hours 15 minutes.

• Transfer time: By bus or taxi, the journey from Reus Airport to Salou – one of the major towns on the coast – is just 20 minutes. However, Barcelona Airport is about 1 hour 30 minutes away by taxi. Both airports have access to public buses and trains.

• Price: Taking a bus from Reus Airport to Salou should cost about €7, while a taxi journey will be roughly €30–€40. A taxi from Barcelona Airport to the main resorts along the Costa Dorada can cost as much as €140 (depending on your destination). If you're trying to cut costs, opt for the train instead; fares vary from about €8 to €20, based on where you’re going.

The weather in Costa Dorada is normally good most of the year as it benefits from a Mediterranean climate. However, when choosing a time to visit, consider just how much heat and how many people you can tolerate.

• May to September is the idyllic time for a beach holiday. Temperatures range from 25°C to 30°C, with July and August being the hottest and busiest months. You can look forward to around 10 to 12 hours of sunshine each day.

• April and October have a perfect balance of less tourists, comfortable temperatures (20°C to 24°C) and plenty of sunshine. The biggest bonus is that the beaches and attractions will be less crowded.
