Originally founded in Finland in 1923, Finnair is one of the world's oldest airlines and has an excellent safety record. As the largest carrier in Finland, it transported over 10 million passengers in 2015, taking them to a wide range of domestic and international locations.

Finnair's current destinations include New York and San Francisco in the USA, Reykjavik in Iceland and a range of locations in the Canary Islands. What is Finnair's luggage allowance?
When you buy a ticket from Finnair you are entitled to bring one piece of check-in baggage for free. It can be 23 kg maximum and have external dimensions measuring up to 158 cm. Unusual luggage like sports equipment or musical instruments can also be treated as one piece of baggage, as can skis measuring below 220 cm. Passengers can take one piece of carry-on baggage with them. This should measure no more than 56 x 45 x 25 cm. In addition, a personal item like a small laptop bag, backpack or handbag measuring no more than 40 x 30 x 15 cm can be put underneath the seat in front. The combined weight of these must be no more than 8 kg in economy, but for business class passengers this increases to 10 kg. If the luggage you need to take with you exceeds these amounts, you'll be asked to pay extra. If you pay online in advance, you will be charged EUR60 on international flights and EUR15 on European and Middle Eastern flights per bag. If you pay when you reach the check in desk, these costs rise to EUR75 and EUR30 respectively.
What extras does Finnair offer?
Finnair has a range of extras to make flying with them a more pleasant experience. You can choose to upgrade your seat to one in their 'Economy Comfort' zone, request extra leg room or a seat by the aisle or window. On intercontinental business tickets passengers can pre-order meals in advance from the 'Finnair Meals Designed for You' range. This includes options like 'Chef's Gourmet', 'Food Lover's Treat' and 'Wellness and Energy'. During off-peak hours, Finnair customers can buy an extra three hours of time in the airline's own lounge in advance. These areas provide free wi-fi, a quality snacks bar, comfortable seating and a range of newspapers. Finnair Plus is the airlines’frequent flyer program. It works in conjunction with Oneworld, an alliance of premier carriers who work together to award regular passengers. To become a member, travellers can fill in a form on their website and begin to earn tier points. As points are gained, members move up the Finnair Plus tiers, gaining more benefits as they go. These could include upgrades to business class, the chance to purchase flights using points and many perks from other Oneworld airlines. When Finnair Plus Silver members or those in a higher tier shop on-board a flight, they receive a 10% discount and earn points on their purchases.
Finnair in the news
In 2016 Finnair joined with Qatar Airways to improve their services and bring passengers more connections in the Far East. They are specifically focusing on adding flights to the Seychelles and the Maldives. A similar agreement with Iberia, Japan Airlines and British Airways will see Finnair offering more scheduled flights to a range of destinations in Japan.
