Paphos is a sunny harbour town rich with history that lies on the south-western shores of Cyprus. Book a Paphos hotel with us and explore this Mediterranean resort that is situated close to outstanding countryside.
With 300 days of sunshine per year, Paphos is great place to relax and recharge. Perhaps the most obvious way to do this is by flopping down on one of the 27 beaches in the area that contribute to over 30 miles of coastline. And if you wanted to spend your whole vacation lying on one of the long, sandy beaches while the warm sea water trickled around your toes, no one could blame you. There's more to Paphos than beaches, however. Aphrodite's Rock, 30 miles down the coast, provides amazing views from every angle.
The crystal clear waters, panoply of marine life and undersea wrecks and ruins are just some of the incentives to get in the water and see what's under the waves. Paphos is perfect for snorkelling and scuba diving and you'll spot all sorts creatures from sea anemones and colonies of coral to echinoderms and sponges. You'll find a number of diving centres that cater for everyone from beginners to experienced divers.
This part of the world wouldn’t be complete without a fascinating ruin or two and Paphos has its fair share. Archaeological Park has landmarks that date back to prehistoric times including Roman villas with splendid mosaic floors. The Tomb of the Kings, close to the town's northern walls, is a necropolis with caves and sandstone tombs that date as far back as 400BC.
Walks and trails and nature
By foot there are many interesting and scenic ways to explore Paphos and the region at large. The Aphrodite Trail begins with a steep climb which is rewarded with terrific 360° vistas and ends with a descent to the coast, all this while walking through some stunning Cypriot landscape. A great way to cover even more ground is on horseback. Canter through verdant pine forests, stop at a lake and visit abandoned villages.
Restaurants and cafés
Paphos has a very good selection of tavernas, cafés and bars serving Greek, Cypriot, Italian, British and Chinese cuisine, and much more. For authentic Cypriot fare, Laona Restaurant has proved popular for its tasty dishes and good service. Akis Tavern is a family run restaurant enjoyed for its friendly atmosphere and Greek and Mediterranean cooking. By all accounts they serve mean moussaka.
Agiou Antoniou, as the locals call it, or 'Bar Street' as many visitors know it, is the place to go for a fun night. Things tend to hot up around eight or nine in the evening and you'll find karaoke bars and clubs playing predominately commercial dance, pop and rock music.
