Disneyland Paris attractions

Top Disneyland Paris sights

Kids will love Disneyland Paris - and most adults too, as they step back into their childhood. The park marked its 25th anniversary in 2017 by revamping some of its most popular attractions and sprucing up others. Overall it is an ambitious recreation complex that encompasses a theme park, hotels, and plenty more. It attracts over 16 million visitors a year.

  1. Explore all the thrilling rides that Disneyland Park has to offer
  2. Discover the magical Walt Disney Studios Park
  3. Enjoy an eco waterpark in your hotel!
  4. Sing your heart out along with your favourite characters
  5. Make the most of the Disney souvenir shops!

There are three areas: Disneyland Park, which has most of the really big rides; Walt Disney Studios Park, which offers more technological rides based on animation - though there are plenty of thrill rides too; and the restaurant/ entertainment/ accommodation complex of Disney Village. Disneyland Paris is easy to visit on a day-trip from the capital, around 30km away. A motorway gives access from the city and the airports, Charles-de-Gaulle and Orly. Speedy commuter trains (RER line A) from the capital, and even faster long-distance trains (TGV) serve Marne-la-Vallée/ Chessy station near the entrance. However you get there, you’re in for a treat when you arrive!

1. Explore all the thrilling rides that Disneyland Park has to offer

Disneyland Park has a variety of good thrill rides, though the majority of attractions remain relatively calm. The Magic Kingdom is divided into four “lands” spreading out from Main Street USA. Main Street USA recaptures the traditions of small-town America at the turn of the 20th century. Fantasyland appeals to the tinies, with It’s a Small World, Sleeping Beauty’s Castle, Peter Pan’s Flight and Dumbo the Flying Elephant among its attractions. Adventureland has the most outlandish sets and one of the best rides - Pirates of the Caribbean. Frontierland, loosely set in the Wild West, features the hair-raising roller coaster Big Thunder Mountain, modelled on a runaway mine train, and the gothic Phantom Manor. In Discoveryland there’s the terrifyingly fast Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain ride. A grand parade of floats representing all your favourite characters sallies down Main Street USA every evening, and there are regular smaller events, special shows and firework displays - these are some of the best Disneyland Paris tourist attractions.

Best for: Roller coaster thrills and fun!

While you’re there: Note that Christmas is a wonderful time to be at the park with plenty of festive shows on offer.

2. Discover the magical Walt Disney Studios Park

The Walt Disney Studios Park largely focuses on what Disney was and is still renowned for - animation. It stands as one of the top Disneyland Paris attractions. You can try your hand at drawing, be part of the audience in a mocked-up film or TV set, and enjoy special effects and stunt shows. This is where you’ll find the wildly popular Ratatouille ride, where you’re “shrunk” to the size of a rat and be taken on a frantic 3D chase through a kitchen, plus three other thrilling rides. First up is the corkscrew-looping, heavy metal-playing white-knuckler of the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith with an Iron Man and the Avengers theme. Next up is the plummeting elevator of the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. To top it all of there is the swirling, “undersea” exhilaration of Crush’s Coaster.

Best for: Learning about animation and even more rides!

While you’re there: It is worth using the Fastpass scheme (free, available at ride ticket machines) to beat the queues.

3. Enjoy an eco waterpark in your hotel!

Disney’s seven themed, heavily designed Disney Village hotels are a mixed bag, and only worth staying in as part of a multi-day package booked through an agent, or through Disneyland. Around 10km to the southwest, a new venture, Villages Nature Paris, a somewhat incongruous collaboration between Disney and Center Parcs, adds eco-themed waterpark fun to the mix. If you’re looking for Disneyland Paris holidays, look no further, we’ve got you sorted!

Best for: Water babies

While you’re there: Don’t miss Aqualagoon - it’s one of the biggest covered water parks in Europe.

4. Sing your heart out along with your favourite characters

You’ve seen them on the big screen (and maybe in the West End), now see them all in real life in Disneyland Paris! Kids will love watching all the performances at Disneyland Paris. A big highlight is the The Lion King Rhythms of the Pride Lands where you can hum along and sing out loud with Simba, Pumbaa and Timon. The show is running until mid-September, so get your dancing shoes on quick! Disneyland Paris sightseeing doesn’t get much better than this!

Best for: Lion King fans

While you’re there: Spot your favourite characters walking around the park and remember to get their autograph!

5. Make the most of the Disney souvenir shops!

If you’re looking for Disney merchandise, you’ve come to the right place. Children (and adults) will love spending their money at the gift shops. Think Mickey Mouse mugs, Minnie Mouse headbands and fancy collectible items. Whatever you’re looking for, you will most certainly find it here.

Best for: Souvenirs

While you’re there: If you’re coming at Christmas, make sure to buy some decorations for your tree!
