Access to Bequia is fairly limited but the island does have a small airport for connections with surrounding islands. There are also regular scheduled ferries to and from the beautiful and quaint town of Port Elizabeth.
Bequia was originally inhabited by a small population of native Island Carib people until it was settled in 1720 by a handful of French families. In 1763, Grenadine and the islands were ceded by the French to the British.
