This lovely town is really a purpose built resort centred around the marina. It’s a great choice as a place to stay as it’s easy to get to some of the larger towns like Sousse from here, and the town’s been built along traditional Tunisian lines: there are narrow streets, pretty arches and even a musical fountain. Holidays in Port El Kantoui are a perfect chance to get away with your family – or even from your family!
Please note: For all arrivals from 1.10.2013 onwards, there will be a Tourist City Tax of 2 TND per person per night – children under 12 years old are exempt. The tax is payable directly to the hotel upon arrival.
What will you find in Port El Kantoui?
The town of Port El Kantoui is beautiful, well maintained and a great place to stay. The marina is picturesque and the buildings are pretty. All that said, there isn’t actually a lot to do in the town itself! Of course, you can spend your days relaxing on the beach, taking a boat trip and maybe doing a bit of whale watching, but for a real taste of Tunisia you might want to head out of town to explore neighbouring Sousse, or the amazing ancient city of Monastir.
If you do decide to take a day out in Sousse make sure you visit the city’s medina. Almost everything worth visiting is hidden somewhere within this maze of buildings and market stalls, and it’s the perfet place to grab those souvenirs As well as being the best place for bargains and great for museums, it’s a World Heritage Site as well!
The food on your holidays in Port El Kantoui will bring you all of the flavours of North Africa, from rich tagines to sweet and greasy bambalonis. Just try not to eat too many of them, they’re a bit of a problem when you’ve got your beach body to look after!
