History

By the middle of the 19th century, Warrenpoint had grown to be the fifth-largest port in Ireland in terms of imports and exports. A plaque stands in the corner of the town dock which commemorates thousands of emigrants who passed through here in search of a better life in America.

History and legend

Narrow Water Keep lies just outside of Warrenpoint on the County Down bank of the Newry River. It was originally built by Hugh de Lacy, Earl of Ulster, as part of the Norman fortifications in 1212.
