Royston Hotels

This quaint, country town is a beautiful and laid-back place to escape to. Testament to its appeal, centuries ago King James VI of Scotland discovered Royston while journeying down to London to be crowned King of England, and he loved it so much, he came back regularly to hunt and relax.

Today, there are lots of historic buildings and traditional pubs to explore, along with the beautiful countryside all around.

One of the must-sees of the town is the completely unique Royston Caves. This strange subterranean attraction was first discovered in the 18th century, and we know little about it to this day. But the place is covered with well-preserved medieval wall carvings, and it's definitely worth checking out.

To catch up on a bit of culture, why not visit Royston District Museum and Art Gallery or even the charming Royston Palace, a lovely cinema set in a Victorian building.

But the best way to top off a day in Royston is in one of the cosy local pubs. Head to somewhere like The Red Cow, The Boars Head or The Fox and Duck for a relaxing drink.
