Take a guided tour around Ringwood Brewery and soak up some of the town's amazing heritage. Learn about the brewing process whilst sniffing the hops and tasting malted barley along the way. See the beer fermenting in the Tun Room, experience a tasting session and end with a complimentary drink in the Pin Room. Open all year round, with a picnic site and only £6.50 a ticket, this is a perfect outing for both home brewers and those with a passing interest in beer.
Don't forget your camera when you visit Liberty's Owl and Reptile Centre. The Reptile House is home to diverse specimens from an enormous python to tiny harvest mice along with timed displays and a child-friendly, on-site café serving delicious snacks. Go Ape, at Moors Valley just a 10-minute drive away, is perfect for some well-organised fun. With zip wires, tree-top trails, obstacle courses, Tarzan swings and a Segway experience, there is plenty for older kids and adults, whilst younger kids can enjoy a mini train ride, woodland play area and 'Gruffalo' trail. Book in advance for some activities. There is a canteen, but bring a picnic for a totally outdoor experience.
With its upmarket clothing, toy and coffee shops, Furlong Shopping Centre is definitely worth a visit. Being home to the monthly farmers' market, you can also get a feel of what this town is about. If you are lucky enough to visit around the festive period, the Christmas Market with singing school choirs is magical.
