Hotels in Palma De Mallorca city
Are you looking for a sunny seaside break in Mallorca? Here on lasminute.com we have a fantastic range of Palma de Mallorca hotels for you to choose from.
Backed by distant mountains and bathed in the Mediterranean sun, Palma, the capital of Mallorca, is a truly beautiful place to visit. There’s a great selection of accommodation for you to choose from including hotels, villas and even apartments.
A great way to start your holiday to Palma is with a tour of the city. One of the best tours available is a hop on, hop off style tour on an open-top double-decker bus. The bus tour has 16 stops and allows you to get on and off and explore any time you like. It really is a great way to take in the best of what the city has to offer.
The masterpiece of the fantastic architecture in Palma has to be its Gothic cathedral known as La Seu. The Roman Catholic Cathedral’s built on the site of a pre-existing mosque. The cathedral has a spectacular interior with many of its features designed by Antoni Gaudí. However, the cathedral perhaps looks most impressive seen from outside where it towers over the city’s sun baked sea wall.
You’ll definitely want to explore the beautiful Mediterranean Sea that surrounds Palma and the best way to do it is with a catamaran cruise. The boats usually have on-board bars so you can grab a drink and sunbathe on deck as the boat glides along. If you want to take a dip yourself, the boats drop anchor in some excellent locations where you can do a bit of swimming or snorkelling. The boats also offer delicious buffet lunches with grilled meat, salads and, of course, sangria.
Galleries and museums
Palma has a unique collection of museums and art galleries for you to explore. A great gallery to visit is Es Baluard which houses a wonderful collection of contemporary and modern art. The gallery’s permanent collection includes works by Miró, Barcelo and even Picasso.
Once you’ve finished in the gallery you should head to the Palau March Museum which was formerly one of the residences of the March family. Today, the museum has an outstanding collection of works by artists such as Auguste Rodin and Henry Moore. The museum is also home to a fantastic collection of nautical maps from the 15th century.
To avoid confusion, this page offers Majorca hotels. While Majorca is the British spelling, Palma de Mallorca is the Spanish version of the name.
