Quebec City

The capital of the province of Quebec, Quebec City is revered for its Château Frontenac Hotel, which was built in the 1890s and is one of the most famous hotels in the world. Old Quebec (Vieux Québec) is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has numerous attractive 19th-century landmarks and the beautiful 17th-century church of Notre-Dame-des-Victoires.

Montreal

Now categorised as a UNESCO City of Design, Montreal is home to the beautiful Basilica Church and the fantastic Mount Royal Park, designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, the same man who designed Central Park in New York City. The city is also known for its interactive Montreal Science Centre museum and the Bonsecours Market, the latter of which is housed in an impressive Renaissance Revival building and features numerous trendy cafés, boutiques and restaurants.

Natural sights

The province is home to many natural wonders, including the Jacques-Cartier River, which runs through the Jacques-Cartier National Park, a popular destination for skiing, fishing and hiking. The Chic-Choc Mountains, within easy reach of Quebec's main cities, are also well worth a visit and are part of the long Appalachian Mountain range, which extends as far as the Deep South in the United States.
