Vietnam Holidays
Vivacious Vietnam
Exotic, vibrant, historic and modern, just some of the things you can expect when you go on one of our Vietnam holidays. It’s a country of great beauty and often exquisite architecture. It also represents an assault on the senses - the colours and aromas of its street markets are intoxicating. The almost other-worldly vistas created by the likes of Ha Long Bay and its aquamarine waters and looming limestone islands have to be seen to be truly appreciated.
Vietnam’s economic centre, Ho Chi Minh City, is one of the finest metropolises in the world, particularly because of its fair share of historic sites, high-end fashion emporiums and array of excellent restaurants. If you’re looking for a lively night on the town, there are also plenty of great bars and cafés to explore.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ha Long Bay is a feast for the eyes with more than 3,000 limestone outcrops and crags featuring caves and grottos and perfect blue-green waters. There’s nothing more relaxing and romantic than boarding a junk and sailing around the verdant islands. If you’re a keen angler, the fishing opportunities are also enormous. An important part of the local economy, fishing provides an important source of food for people in these parts. Take the time to visit one of many floating fishing villages, such as Ba Hang, Cua Van, Vung Vieng or Cong Dam.
Situated in the heart of Vietnam, the city of Hue lies within a maze of moats, lotus lakes, canals and the Perfume River. Another UNESCO World Heritage Site, Hue – or the Imperial City – is where you’ll find the final resting place of the kings and queens of the Nguyen dynasty who are buried in exquisite mausoleums.
'Hanoi Rocks' was the name of a successful ‘hair metal’ band of the 1980s and it’s an apt description for the city itself. There is a vibrancy that resonates throughout the city and is reflected in both cultural and political terms. The Old Quarter provides a fascinating and lazy walk along as you navigate the colourful street stalls selling local fare, artisan clothing and more. At night, these roadside markets really come to life and conspire to create a heady atmosphere that is beloved by locals and travellers alike.
Nha Trang is a modern city that offers a vivacious nightlife, with a diverse range of restaurants and bars particularly around the beach area. No visit to Nha Trang is complete without making your way to at least one of the nearby tropical islands. Underneath the waves you can explore the array of exotic sea life that congregate around what are probably Vietnam’s best coral reefs.
