The Bay of Canella is a real insider tip! Not visible from the road, it lies at the end of a private road. A short walk along an old railroad track rewards you with a beach that is out of this world. Velvety soft sand and a sea shimmering in a thousand shades of blue invite you to relax and unwind. Underwater you can expect a lot of colourful fish.
Our tip: Take a snorkel and mask: the rocks on the north side of the bay are among Corsica's most fish-rich places and offer incredible underwater views.
The long beach of Saint Cyprien on the south-east coast of Corsica is a paradise for families. Well protected by the rough sea wind, the large sandy bay falls long and flat into the light blue salt water. Due to the low water level even, small children can bathe here safely. All others can use the shallow bay for long beach walks and relaxing in the water.
Our tip: A five-minute hiking trail takes you through picturesque rolling hills to the ruins of an old 16th-century watchtower. You should not miss out on the opportunity to view this cultural site.
Santa Giulia is a highlight of every Corsican holiday. The beach is characterised by powdered sugar-white sand, which merges gently for almost 100m with turquoise-blue sea water. Since in Santa Giulia only a few coral and shell remains are washed up on the beach, the sand here is wonderfully clean. Thanks to its shallow depth, the water heats up very quickly and reaches temperatures of up to 30 °C in summer.
Our tip: Whether young or old - the fine sand is perfect for building sand castles.
The beach of Porticcio has a very good infrastructure. So here, the rental of sun loungers, umbrellas, sailing boats and jet skis is easily possible. You can easily reach the Caribbean-like beach with its bright sand and crystal-clear water by car, which you can park nearby. While the south end of the beach is usually well-frequented, you are mostly alone in the northern part and can sunbathe and relax in peace and quiet.
Our tip: Cosy restaurants align the beach. Allow yourself to be spoiled by local chefs while watching the romantic sunset.
The beach on the Gulf of Ajaccio is one of the most beautiful beaches in the region. The two bays are connected by a small rock garden. Both bays enchant with sapphire blue waters and pale yellow sand. However, the beach is particularly popular for its extraordinary rock formations that encourage climbing. Snorkellers enjoy a busy underwater life below the rocks.
Our tip: Due to the great water-depth, it is possible to jump directly into the water from the high rock towers.
The beach of Loto is located on the north coast of Corsica and was long considered an absolute insider tip for a beach holiday. Since it is not easy to reach - best by taxi boat or on foot - you often experience relaxing peace and solitude. Reminiscent of the Caribbean, the beach wins you over with fine sand and sparkling blue water. Within this wide bay you can relax, swim and sunbathe amidst the untouched nature of Corsica.
Our tip: The surrounding area is ideal for undisturbed walks and walks through the natural beauties of the island.
Located in the middle of a pine forest, Palombaggia is one of the best beaches in Corsica. Here you can expect a breathtaking play of colours from the reddish-brown rocks, dark green pine trees, through the deep blue water to the snow-white sand. Where could you swim or relax in the sun better than amidst this dream scenery? The numerous bars will accommodate a refreshment in between, whilst inviting you to linger longer in the paradise of Palombaggia.
Our tip: Rent a boat and explore the many small rocky islands around the bay. Do not forget a snorkel and mask.
The Bay of Saleccia borders the protected and unique Agreaten desert. The beautiful bay with a Caribbean beach is accessible either by car on the unpaved dirt roads or by boat. The minor arrival difficulties are always justified when you doze on the warm sand and look out onto the blue sea. The water here is so clear that you can still see the seabed even further out.
Our tip: Paddle out to sea with a boat or kayak and enjoy views of the beach, bay and unspoiled nature.
Between Bonifacio and Porto Vecchio is the - as the name implies - almost round bay Rondinara. The sea glistens in all imaginable shades of blue, dense pine forests border the bay with the seductive sandy beach and bright red rocks complete a play of colours in the bay. Due to the gentle sloping of the beach, the bay is also ideal for children. Due to the two almost touching peninsulas, the bay is also protected from wind and waves.
Our tip: The many little fish that frolic on the rocks make the hearts of friends of the underwater world beat faster.
The beach of Algajola is the ideal place for active holidaymakers. The bay in north-western Corsica is very popular with surfers and windsurfers due to its high waves. Due to beach merging quickly into the sea it is excellent for swimming. On land volleyball courts invite you to play. From many cliffs a jump into the sea is harmless and provides a fantastic adrenaline kick. The coarse-grained sand is great for relaxing and lazing on.
Our tip: For a little snack in between or as an end to a long day, there are many small restaurants with typical island delicacies available at the bay.
