Matilda the Musical is an award-winning West End theatre show based on the much-loved children’s book by Roald Dahl and you can book Matilda tickets right here at lastminute.com
The show tells the story of a small girl with a big imagination who quickly learns she has some very special magical powers and uses them to set things right at home and school. Dahl's magical story has been a favourite novel for millions of people across the world since it was published in 1988.
Picking up a record-breaking seven Olivier Awards in 2012 (and a further four Tony Awards for the Broadway production) it’s easy to understand why Matilda show tickets are selling fast. In fact, Matilda now holds the Guinness Book of World Records for Most Laurence Olivier Award wins, snatching the title from a 1980s production of Nicholas Nickleby-another Royal Shakespeare Company production.
Premiering in 2010 at the Royal Shakespeare Company’s The Courtyard Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon, Matilda played to sold-out audiences before transferring to London’s Cambridge Theatre in 2011.
One of the youngest theatres in the West End, the Cambridge Theatre opened in 1930 and has historically shown many musicals including Chicago, Fame, Grease and The Jerry Springer: The Opera. Situated off Seven Dials, in the very heart of Covent Garden, the Cambridge Theatre is moments away from public transport including Leicester Square and Covent Garden underground stations.
