Windsor Castle Description

Being one of the few remaining and occupied palaces on earth, Windsor Castle is notable for its architecture. It was constructed in the 11th Century after William the Conqueror invaded England. Today, the castle is the home to the British royal family and creates a remarkable skyline in Berkshire. Settled in 5.3 hectares of land, the castle accommodates about 150 people including the Queen of England. Most visitors buying Windsor Castle tickets are driven by a desire to come into contact with the museum-like atmosphere as well as historic ruins of the oldest habitable castle.

Windsor Castle Tour Highlights- Must See Things

  • State Apartments: This is where the royal collection of treasures is kept. Expect lavish artworks from renowned designers such as Gainsborough, Rubens, and Canaletto.

  • St George’s Chapel: Ten monarchs (Kings and Queens), many aristocrats, and other royals have been buried in St. George’s Chapel that depicts a Gothic architecture. Fourteen royal couples have tied their knots here including the descendants of Queen Victoria.
