In the heart of Downtown Dubai, the 13 million ft2 Dubai Mall is the world’s largest shopping mall by area, and home to 1,200 stores selling everything from electronic goods and home furnishings to bridalwear and flowers. It also has more than 150 restaurants and cafes, 22 cinema screens and 14,000 parking spaces.
The mall attracts around 75 million visitors a year, making it one of the world’s most visited shopping and leisure destinations. Trendy types should head for Fashion Avenue, a 440,000ft2 stretch of precinct dedicated to high fashion, or to The Souk, home to jewellery shops, accessory outlets, and stores selling traditional Arab clothing and craft items. For a bit of fresh air, step outside into the tree-lined walkways of The Village, where you’ll also find denim brands and plenty of cafés and restaurants, or visit Candylicious, believed to be the world’s largest sweet shop. The mall is also right next to the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, and the 30-acre Burj Khalifa Lake.
