The Idyllic Holiday Setting

Santorini is a Greek island that boasts multi-coloured cliffs soaring out of an underwater Caldera. With romantic sunsets, volcanic-sand beaches and dazzling panoramas, the uniqueness of the destination adds to its allure. The island's black volcanic beaches and famous Red Beach draws tourists from around the world. Santorini curves around a giant lagoon in the Aegean Sea, and the east coast of the island is dotted with hidden beaches and taverna-lined promenades whilst the elevated west coast is popular with tourists.

The centre of the island hosts vineyards and traditional villages that can allow you to immerse yourself in the culture of the island. Santorini is steeped in history, boasting museums, walking trails, wine tasting and archaeology tours. Upmarket restaurants and hotels, terraced cafes and bars and endless photo opportunities add to the appeal of Santorini.

Food and Drink in Santorini

There are a variety of cultural activities and a thriving culinary scene on the island of Santorini. Unique cherry tomatoes have been grown on the island since the 19th century with the volcanic soil giving them a unique flavour. In addition to tomatoes, the island produces olive oil, and these ingredients form the basis of many traditional dishes. Wine tasting is available at many of the island's vineyards, and being an island, seafood is always on the menu.

Archeology and History

Santorini is steeped in history and has buildings that survived a massive 18th-century earthquake. A number of churches with distinctive blue domes date back to Venetian times. Ancient Thira is accessible by bus or hire car and hosts an eclectic mix of ruins dating back to the 9th century with a number of temples, theatres, mosaic floors and a marketplace. Linked to the Lost City of Atlantis is the Caldera: this deep depression results from volcanic activity dating back some 3,500 years. The Caldera is considered one of the worlds most outstanding natural landmarks.

Santorini boasts numerous 4 star hotels offering infinity pools, terraces with outstanding views and spacious rooms.
