Out and about

You'll find no shortage of attractions and activities to keep you entertained during a visit to Nottingham. The city has strong connections with the legend of Robin Hood and you can learn more about the world's favourite folk hero at the Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre. Why not have your photograph taken in front of the world-famous Major Oak, estimated to have stood in the forest for 800 years.

Take a stroll through the 450-acre country park before heading back to the city to discover all about Nottingham Castle, a mansion dating back to the 17th century. It now houses Nottingham's main museum and art gallery.

A vibrant entertainment scene

It's not difficult to find drama, live music or comedy events taking place in the centre of Nottingham. Thanks to the large student population there's something going on most evenings. Rock City is a hugely popular venue for catching up and coming bands, while the Capital FM Arena Nottingham regularly hosts major recording artistes from across the world.

Enjoy a night of stand-up at the Glee Club Nottingham, or try the Theatre Royal Concert Hall if you're looking for an evening of drama or ballet. When you're ready to relax with a drink, consider heading to Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, which claims to be the oldest pub in England.

Sporting fun

You'll find numerous opportunities to stay active or simply attend sporting events as a spectator while you're in Nottingham. Pay a visit to Sherwood Forest Golf Club to test your swing at this heathland course in the heart of Sherwood Forest.

Perhaps consider a day out at Nottingham Racecourse, set just a few miles to the east of the city centre. Meetings are held here regularly between April and November.

Catch Nottingham Forest play a home game at The City Ground, or pop next door to Trent Bridge Cricket Ground where you'll be able to watch a regional or international match during the summer months.
