Places to see

King’s Road is a must-see while you’re in the area. Built as a private road for Charles II between St. James’ Palace and Fulham, it was opened to the public in the 19th century and became a firm favourite with hippies in the 1960s. Today, its home to an awe-inspiring selection of neoclassical buildings, like the Chelsea Town Hall and it’s a picturesque place to stroll through.

For the ultimate shopping experience, head down to Sloane Street to browse the boutiques, take in the houses in Belgravia, one of the world’s wealthiest areas, or pop to the 17th-century Chelsea Royal Hospital to see some breathtaking architecture.  

Also known for being a historically arty area, with residents including J.M.W Turner, Dante Gabriel Rossetti and Oscar Wilde, there are plenty of galleries to visit like contemporary art house, Gagliardi Gallery, and it’s the home to the exclusive, private members Chelsea Arts Club.

From high-end eateries to cosy cafés, there’s so much choice in Chelsea so it’s worth wandering the streets to see what gems you can find.
